A visit from Make-A-Wish Foundation

by Irah Pebredo | Dec 19, 2016
Merry Christmas from your Student Union.
A visit from the Make-A-Wish Foundation

This morning the Student Experience & Students Union teams welcomed Mary Quille from the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Mary (pictured below) was dropping in to meet our teams today and collect the €321 raised by our very generous staff members at DBS over the last two weeks.

Our donation was the accumulation of funds collected by the team from our Christmas coffee morning on Wednesday and our Staff Charity Christmas Jumper Day last week. Both of these events were a great success and the support from our staff was second to none. With this great team effort, we helped raise some much needed funds for an organization that really does need it.

Mary told us today that “the foundation is really appreciative of your donation and it is the accumulation of these funds that really go a long way in making a difference in these children’s lives”. Mary also added that “the foundation receives no government funding at all, and relies solely on the kindness of people like you (the staff at DBS) to allow us to continue with our amazing work, with the children who really need it”.

For anyone who doesn’t know, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has one simple aim – They strive to grant the wishes of children aged between 3 and 17 years living with life-threatening medical conditions. Since arriving in Ireland in 1992, Make-A-Wish has granted wishes for more than 1,900 brave children. A wish granted is true magic for the child, providing respite from their normal routines of hospitals, doctors and treatment.

With your generosity the Make-A-Wish Foundation can make a real difference to a child’s life.

If you missed out, don't worry.
