Last week we celebrated the rich culture and diversity that we have in our college. We have over 40 nationalities in DBS and we wanted to showcase each of these countries.

This year was the first year that we ran an International & Culture week and it was undoubtedly a huge success!

We had students from different ethnic background involved in the activities and events that we ran throughout the week and they had the opportunity to learn and experience the various cultures that we have in DBS.
International Movie Marathon - Monday

Our film society ran another successful movie night featuring everyone's favourite, PIZZA!! (and popcorn) They showed 3 international films:
  1. The Raid (Indonesian)
  2. La Haine (French)
  3. Wild Tales (Spanish)

Cultural Quiz - Tuesday
We tested their international knowledge for a voucher and a DBS hoodie as a prize! We hosted a cultural quiz to educate the students about the different cultures that we have in our college.

Could you answer some of these questions?
  1. What is the richest country in the world in terms of GDP?
  2. Name the colours in the Indian flag.
  3. How many stars is in the Chinese flag?
  4. What famous river in Dublin divides the northside from the southside?
In the end, the team that won the quiz was Sedo, Ibim and Hakim. Check out the photos below!
Céilí in the Common Room - Wednesday

We invited very experienced traditional Irish dancers & musicians to the student common room, for our first ever live Céilí at DBS last Wednesday. We were taught the basic 1,2,3's and the Walls of Limerick!

The guys also played a combination of the guitar, banjo, mandolin, bodhran, tin whistle and conducted a sing-a-long!

International Fair - Thursday

The highlight of the week!
Students from different countries were invited to showcase and celebrate their culture last Thursday! For the first time ever in DBS, we hosted an International fair with 13 countries from different continents to teach us a little about their country!

They represented their countries through bringing national clothes, money, food, music, games, flags, banners and various items that came from their country.

Titanic Museum - Saturday

To end the eventful week, we brought over 50 students to Belfast, Northern Ireland to do a tour of the Titanic Museum! Everyone found the tour very informative. We finished the tour early enough to give us time to roam around Belfast city. We were in luck as Belfast had their festive Christmas Market up during our visit!
We hope that you found last week fun and informative and thank you to everyone that took part in the events and activities that we ran!

A special thanks to our students that put in a lot of time and effort in making their stalls as creative and informative as it was. The International Fair was a success because of you!
