How to make your resolution more attainable
Making a New Years resolution is a great idea to start the year off. It can
give you the motivation to achieve something new and improve yourself!

Keeping your resolution is the hardest part. Research shows that only
8% of people actually achieve their targets. So statistically, the
numbers are against most of us. But fear not... all is not lost.

We looked at some research from one of the leading experts in behavior change, psychologist Paul Marciano.
Dr. Marciano is the author of Carrots and Sticks Don’t Work and he specializes in the area of behavior modification and engagement. He offered seven tips for achieving your goals:
  1. Make your goal specific
  2. Measure progress
  3. Be patient
  4. Share your goals with friends and family
  5. Schedule it.
  6. Something is better than nothing.
  7. Get up, when you slip up!
Are you looking for adventurous things to do in 2017?

If you don't want to just sit at home in 2017 or you want to experience some authentic Irish culture, Allison our Student Support Officer has put together a few places and events to visit this year. Maybe 2017 is the year to discover and experience new things!!

"The likes of the Temple Bar Trad Fest coming up at the end of January, the GAA season will be kicking off shortly with football and hurling matches in Croke Park from now until the end of the summer, Taste of Dublin in June, the Galway Races in July or even music festivals like Sea Sessions, Forbidden Fruit, Longitude and Electric Picnic throughout the summer."

... Or maybe you just want to party DBS style?

"You have done what you could—some blunders and absurdities have crept in. Forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense." —Ralph Waldo Emerson
