How to Open a Student Bank Account with MoneyJar

Dublin Business School is delighted to partner with MoneyJar again for the coming academic year. Moneyjar have made the opening of a bank account really simple for our students, and the application will also help you to share everyday costs and plan future goals with friends and family.

 

A quick guide on getting started:

1 - Download the Moneyjar app

2 - Sign up using the 5 digit code. The DBS reference number is 41775

3 - You will need proof of identity - passport or driver's licence

Please note that you do not need a stamped college letter to open a bank account with Moneyjar.

 

Onboarding Guidelines when opening MoneyJar accounts

1.Outside the EEA

1.1 Signing Up

Opening up a money jar Account outside of the EEA requires the customer to have an Irish address. This address can be their temporary or permanent address once they move to Ireland. It can be a friend, relatives or Hotel / B&B once its an Irish address is key

Please note; the bank card will be sent to this address 

 

1.2 Transfers to their MJ from outside EEA

A ; EUR transfer from outside EEA

If the bank accepts a SEPA transfer, please include your IBAN. If the bank doesn’t accept SEPA transfers, it’s possible to transfer funds by creating an account with https://wise.com/ and send money to the Money Jar account. The money will be available in a couple of minutes. 

Customers can access their IBAN, by opening the app and clicking on the side menu and then select Account Details.


B ;Non EUR transfers from outside EEA

Transfers in non EUR currencies can be done by creating an account at https://wise.com/ and sending the money to the Money Jar account. The money will be available in a couple of minutes. 

 

 

2. Inside the EEA

 2.1 Signing Up

Customers will be able to sign up from their home country and  open an account even if they are not located in Ireland at the moment of account creation. Please note  if the customer uses the digital bank account outside of Ireland they will be charged international banking transactions. 


2.2 Transfers to their MJ account

1. EUR transfers inside the EU Eurozone can be made via SEPA.

2. Non €urozone transfers from inside EEA can be done by creating an account at https://wise.com/ and sending the money to the Money Jar account. The money will be available in a couple of minutes. 

To access your IBAN, open the app and click on the side menu on Account Details.
