Coronavirus Update- Travel to China and Italy

The Irish Department of Foreign Affairs has advised people not to travel to areas of Italy affected by a coronavirus outbreak.

DBS advise all students to postpone or defer travel to China and its associated territories (Hong Kong, Macao) until such time as the Irish Government give the all-clear to do so. 

Italy

There has been an increase in the number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Italy. As a result, the Italian government has provided in law for certain administrative areas, where necessary, to take appropriate actions. These actions include but are not limited to:

• Restriction of movement into and out of those areas
• Restriction of certain transport services
• A suspension of demonstrations and meetings (either public or private)
• School/University closures
• Museum closures
• Quarantining where necessary
• Closure of certain businesses and cessation of certain public services

Citizens are advised not to travel to affected areas.

To find out if the area to which you are travelling is an affected area, please consult with your transport and accommodation providers, the Regional Government website of the region in question or if you are already in Italy, call 1500.

China

If you have recently been in mainland China or may have been in contact with Coronavirus:

Phone your local Department of Health if in the past 14 days you have:

  • returned from mainland China (this does not include if you have only been in Hong Kong or Macau).
  • been in contact with a person who has Coronavirus
  • been in a hospital or healthcare centre where people are being treated for Coronavirus.
  •  

If the unlikely event that it is confirmed that you have contracted the virus please advise the College immediately via e-mail at [email protected]
