Please be cautious when renting accommodation from private landlords, and do not hand over a deposit/ rent without viewing the property in person. In particular, do not use Facebook, instead use the sites recommended on this page.
Please follow the following advice when sourcing your accommodation:
- Do not pay anything without viewing
- View all accommodations with a friend
- Do not make any online payments
- Use a credit card for payments if possible
- Be sure that all banks/online companies are legitimate
- Do not make any payments if the bank account given is not an Irish Bank Account.
- Do not pay a deposit until you have personally viewed the property
- Contact a member of our Student Services to help advise you if an accommodation source looks suspicious
- Alert the local authorities of your suspicion - (Gardaì - 01 666 9063).
Short Term Options
There are short term accommodation options available, to give yourself time to do a more permanent accommodation search when you arrive in Ireland. DBS recommends www.staycity.com which is ideal short term self catering accommodation for groups of 2,3, or 4.
