Visa Information and Registration with ISD

Arrival: Upon arriving in Ireland, an immigration officer will stamp your passport, allowing you to stay for up to 90 days. You must register with immigration before this stamp expires.

 

Before registering with Immigration Service Delivery (ISD), ensure you have secured long-term accommodation, as the Irish Residency Permit (IRP) will be sent to this address. Short-term accommodations like hostels or Airbnbs are not acceptable for registration.

What to bring to your appointment.

  1. Valid Passport

  2. Proof of enrollment- Confirmed offer and Acceptance letter

  3. Receipt of college fees

  4. Private Medical Insurance

  

IRP Card Information: 

  • Your IRP card is posted to you within 10-15 days of your appointment 

  • IRP cards are valid for 12-15 months depending on the duration of your course and expected graduation.

  • Undergraduates will need to renew their visa each year.

  • You must always carry your IRP card and show it to the authorities if asked

  • Once IRP is valid you may leave Ireland and re-enter without the need for other immigration-related travel requirements (i.e. visa). You must bring your IRP when travelling

  • Your IRP card does not allow you to travel freely or live elsewhere in EU/EEA

  • Your IRP card is not an identity document
