Accommodation in Dublin - Beware of Fraudulent Listings.

by james Bourke | Sep 08, 2020

Please be cautious when renting accommodation from private landlords, and do not hand over a deposit/ rent without viewing the property in person. In particular, do not use Facebook, instead use the sites recommended in our accommodation section.

Please follow the following advice when sourcing your accommodation:

  • Do not pay anything without viewing.

  • View all accommodations with a friend.

  • Do not make any online payments.

  • Use a credit card for payments if possible.

  • Be sure that all banks/online companies are legitimate.

  • Do not make any payments if the bank account given is not an Irish Bank Account.

  • Do not pay a deposit until you have personally viewed the property.

  • Contact a member of our Student Services to help advise you if an accommodation source looks suspicious.

  • Alert the local authorities of your suspicion - (Gardaì - 01 666 9063).

If a property looks too good to be true, it probably is. If you have doubts over a property, please mail us: student.services@dbs.ie
