Legend of the week March 12th - Dilara Ulker

Each week we highlight a student from DBS who has been an absolute 'LEGEND' within our Student Body. These people have been working hard to make our college a great place.

You can nominate your college friend for legend for next weeks 'LEGEND OF THE WEEK' by clicking here or alternatively you can follow our Humans of DBS Instagram page.

This weeks legend of the week - Dilara Ulker

Flash back…

Looking back what would you do differently in your life so far linking that to now…?

“I`ve been living here in Dublin for more than 2 years now and I can say that I am living my best life to be honest. So, I wish I`d had that courage to come here years ago. Other than this, every single experience I`ve ever had is important to me.”

Winning!

What was one of your most proudest moments?

“Well, I`ll be selfish here. One of my proudest moments was the time I finally realized that there`s nothing wrong with being myself, and I accepted myself as who I am!”

Spill the tea…

What is the biggest OMG moment you have ever had?

“It was when my visa application got rejected by the Irish Embassy! All process actually…

Everything went as I`d planned so I told my manager that I`ll resign and the same day I got the bad news. Just the very next day I needed to make him believe that I would stay. Two months later I finally got the visa, called my manager to let him know but it turned out that he actually wanted to let me know that I was fired!”

Work it!

What do you want to do after college and how has DBS helped you to get there?

“I want to worry about mortgage! But before that, I need a job. So, I believe DBS is helping me to have this chance already with great lectures and career programs.

Also, I was worried about feeling alone in this path, but thanks to DBS, I`ve made some friends and we call each other family!”

Finally…

What’s one message would you like to put across to your fellow students through this time?

“We`ll all get through this! Stay strong, stay connected, stay positive and spread the love and happiness!”

See you next week!
