Putting "Me Time” into your schedule

The exams period is always a hectic period and many of us are so focused on doing it all that we forget to carve out time for ourselves. Ensuring your own health and happiness is critical during this time. So give yourself permission to take care of yourself — now. If you put off your self-care until things are less busy, the college year is over, or some other circumstances are exactly right, you may never get to it. Start with the basics to live a fulfilled and productive life: We all need sleep, food, and exercise to succeed. Always try to ask yourself where you’re deficient and what you can do about it.

Next, ensure self-care is in your schedule. Determine how much time you have available for this and what you can do with that time. Then block it off on your calendar — and stick to it. Be sure to prepare yourself for meaningful “Me Time” by eliminating potential distractions or frictions between you and your goal. For example, set a sleep alarm on your phone for going to sleep or getting up early to study. Perhaps lay out your workout clothes the night before to give yourself some extra motivation. Finally, set firm boundaries by being clear with others about when you’ll be turning your full attention to yourself.

Opting to have more meaningful “Me Time” will ensure that your week is filled with joy, energy and most importantly, productivity!

Good luck.
