Business & Innovation Week line up for 2022

'Business & Innovation Week 2022' is finally here at DBS and we have a great line up for you to enjoy. You can expect great events, fun competitions and plenty of inspiring talks to help you get excited about various Business and Innovative concepts. This years theme is built around 'Success in the Future Workplace'.

 

Here is what you can expect for our Business & Innovation Week 2022:

 

Launching Monday February 28th and runs throughout the week

DBS Innovation Week - Investment Challenge 2022

You asked, and we brought it back!

To kick off the Business Innovation Week, we are launching a Simulated Stock Trading Competition! Practice trading with virtual money to sharpen your knowledge of how the stock market works and how to use an online brokerage.

Cash prizes for first and second place, the winner will be the contestant with the most valuable portfolio on Thursday at 9pm (Close of the New York Market) The prizes will be presented at the closing event on Friday Afternoon.

Student Monopoly Night, hosted by the DBS Consulting Society: 

As part of our annual Innovation Week at DBS the Consulting Society wants to unite students on the greatest unifying game of all time, Monopoly.

Experience the ups and downs of the dice on Monday at 7pm in the Common Room with your friends and other students of DBS. The rules will be explained before the game, so come even if you haven't played before.

The night will follow with more fun activities. The winners team will get the share of a €100 dine in Dublin Voucher, along with some DBS t-shirts. There will be free pizzas and BYOB!

Masterclass Series | Gerard Farrell, Operative Director of DublinTown

Masterclass theme - ‘’Creating a new night-time economy in Dublin City’’

As Operative Director of DublinTown Gerard Farrell is responsible for the activities of their day and night time cleaning teams as well as the Street Ambassador programme. Gerard has through his role as Operative Director been part of the Grafton Street Improvement Scheme working group, the Grow Dublin Task Force sub-group on Cruise Tourism, the "Better City for All" report alongside a lot more.

His studies in Communication and Media as well as his 10+ years of experience enable him to simplify the science of why post-covid has changed the city's economy and how they’re trying to reinvent the night-time economy. Gerard brings a track record of integrity, creativity, and passion to everything he does.

Careers Assessment Center - Workshop

Assessment centres have become popular and a common method of assessing job candidates’ abilities and performance to establish if they are a suitable match from a skillset and cultural perspective. This workshop has been designed to equip students with the information and tips to not only understand but successfully navigate Assessment centres and will be filled with free resources to help you begin to prepare.

This workshop will be accessible both physically and online at 10 am and 12 pm on Tuesday, 1 March 2022.

Masterclass theme - ‘’Starting out as an Entrepreneur’

Industry Innovation Challenge - Flagship Challenge

Students of DBS are invited to take part in the biggest challenge of the semester!

Students will have to come up with an Innovative Marketing idea and win €300. Teams will be asked to register in group of three. From here you will work using the Lean Canvas Model on the evening of the event. The best Lean Canvas and presentations are going to receive different prizes. 

The judges of this event will be Richard O’Callahan (Accounting and Finance Course Director), Rita Day (Business Course Director) and Dr. Paul Mc Evoy (Full Time Lecturer), along with industry input from our banking partners Moneyjar.ie

This panel discussion is with leading industry experts exploring the Future of Work in the context of teams, company culture, performance management and graduate opportunities. An opportunity to ask the experts their opinion and direction of employability for career opportunities.

Business Society presents: LinkedIn Headshots!!

Get your new LinkedIn profile secured and have the chance to win DBS merchandise along with a shoutout on our social page.

The Business Society invites all DBS students to get their professional photographs clicked by a professional photographer. By filling out the google form linked in our Instagram you're also competing for best bio and will have the chance not only to win free merchandise but also to get promoted through the Business Society LinkedIn page - a chance to get seen by other companies.

DRESS CODE: Professional Attire

The photographer will be in college between 10 pm - 2 pm so this event is, therefore a drop in session between those hours. All the funds raised go towards the Irish Cancer Society.

Student Networking Night host by the Business Society

 

The Business Society hereby invites all DBS students on a Student Networking Night to end the Business and Innovation week in a good spirit. Students will get the chance to meet and connect with people from a variety of degrees, all with one thing in common: a passion for networking.

BYOB and be ready for surprises along the way, such as Powerpoint Karaoke and prizes. This is a college event you don't want to miss out on.
