International Women's Day 2022

by Ntsoaki Phakoe | Mar 09, 2022

We celebrated the day firstly by showing our solidarity - cross our arms and strike a pose #dbsnotobias and invited DBS staff and students to help break the bias and show their support.  We had an amazing turn out from students and staff, we did our part in creating awareness and celebrating the amazing women in DBS.

The day was followed by a Keynote talk with Galadrielle Henreich “Embracing Your Uniqueness”, she taught us about bias but delivered it in a way where it wasn’t merely about understanding it but to manage our behaviors especially towards women. She left the audience inspired, empowered and plenty of Golden Nuggets to take away.

I would like to thank Sonalife for sponsoring our #IWD2022 event, my colleagues Emma, Rita, Grace, Kesya and Gracie. Hazel and Galadrielle for coming in and adding sparkle to the day.

I would also like to say a special thank you to Loran, Paola, Dorothy, Lilliana, Igor and the SU team, students who went above and beyond to ensure that the day ran smoothly!!
