Dear students,
The National Student Media Award applications are OPEN! The closing date for entries is Thursday March 24th, so just over a week away. These awards are the largest running student event in Ireland, and winning a Smedia Award can be the kickstarter to a career in media. We have judges of the highest stature in Irish media, and students getting their work seen by people with their expertise is a fantastic opportunity!
The link to apply is here. Just to note, if a student would like to enter a Journalism category and has not had their work published, they can send this onto [email protected] and we can publish it for you; you can then use this link in the application form.
We also have a BRAND NEW category, sponsored by Fáilte Ireland - Journalism Relating to Travel!
A couple categories of note:
This can be anything related to road safety, driving lessons, safer driving etc.
This is for multiple categories: Journalism, Film/TV, Radio, web etc.
This is anything regarding the environment, recycling, ways to be greener, sustainability etc.
This is for multiple categories: Journalism, TV or Radio.
This is an award judged by students! Students can nominate someone for this award, and a poll is made once applications close for students to vote for the winner.
The following two categories have a €1000 prize fund!
This can be anything related to science & tech, including developments in the world or even small college developments
The European Commission has specified 8 areas which students can write about
And this category has a €500 prize fund!
BLOC is a short-form video platform made by TG4. This category requires a bilingual/all in Irish video between 1-4 minutes long - creativity is sought after!
The in-person event will be on April 28th at the Aviva Stadium. Any questions at all, please feel free to give me a call at 0831492879 or email me at [email protected].
Thank you!
