DBS Innovation Sprint 2020 Success

by Adam Crowther | Feb 10, 2021

The Student Experience Team facilitated their annual Innovation Sprint as a unique cross-collaborative competition across the entire student body of Dublin Business School. This week-long event set out to test the imagination of each of the teams to find for certain out who the most creative and innovative students are across DBS.

Challenge Objective:

This years challenge is set out by An Bord Pleanála to apply a vision for the vacant Docklands space, that will make Dublin the most  sustainable and dynamic cities across Europe.

Challenge Briefing:

To cope with the increased customs demands following on from Brexit, Dublin Port has been relocated to a more suitable location in Balbriggan which will support more infrastructure around customs checks. The land that remains is now available for a strategic development project that will turn the ‘Docklands’ of Dublin into one of Europe's most sustainable and dynamic cities.

We actively encouraged all of the students to utilize the Design Thinking Process and to work collaboratively as a team to create and innovate around their project plans. Each team were tasked with designing their own creative solution to the proposed problem and had to submit their plans through Youtube, in which a panel of academic and industry judges evaluated each idea and from a high level of innovative student participants selected a winning group.

The winners of this years programme was the team from Belger Zeitgeist, with their wonderfully imaginative Portlin 25 project which is available to view in full by clicking here!
