Hi guys Ryan O'Callaghan here, your new Peer Mentor Officer at DBS. I hope that you are all enjoying the summer period whatever you are doing. Myself and the Education Team cannot wait until the new academic year begins, so that we can safely welcome you all back to our College. We have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure that there are numerous support programmes, like the Peer Mentor Programme in place to help you with the return to Campus this year. This year we want to expand on our Peer Mentor Programme and focus on four key areas;

1 - Academic Support;

2- Life Skills;

3- Social Opportunities;

4- Community Engagement;

We will continue to run our hugely popular Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) sessions twice per week, while also expanding on our existing “Meet your Mentor” clinics. This year's clinics will be focused around building important Life Skills that we are sure you will all enjoy. Each session will aim to help students better equip students to navigate their journey while they study at DBS. Similarly this year we want to drive more community engagement through digital platforms. So make sure you keep an eye out for podcasts and Instagram Live’s series where our Mentors will share their experiences relating to assignments, coping with learning independently, and managing your own wellbeing while at college.

Finally, our Mentors will be hosting numerous Social Opportunities throughout the year, such as Networking Nights and Mentor Meetups. So whether it's an online Bingo-Loco style evening or a walk up Killiney Hill, you can join our Mentors for a memorable time no matter what.
