by Adam Crowther | Sep 18, 2024

We are excited to announce the start of the DBS Student Leadership Programme for the new academic term, designed to equip our Student Leaders with the skills, experiences, and insights to excel in their roles both on campus and beyond. With over 400 student leaders participating annually, this programme continues to offer students hands-on learning and personal development opportunities that prepare them for future leadership challenges.

This term, participants will be immersed in a series of eight dynamic modules that build essential leadership competencies. These modules are crafted through interactive workshops that enhance skills in communication, teamwork, mentorship, and more, providing a comprehensive leadership experience.

Modules for the Coming Term:

Skills Assessment and Personal Development Planning

This new module allows participants to assess their current leadership skills through self-assessments and peer feedback, helping them create personal development plans to guide their growth.

Foundations of Leadership

Kicking off the programme, this module will introduce student leaders to the core concepts of leadership, self-awareness, and emotional intelligence—essential traits for effective leadership.

Mentorship and Coaching

In this module, students will learn how to become supportive mentors to their peers, developing trust, empathy, and active listening skills, which will help them guide and uplift others.

Teamwork and Collaboration

Fostering collaboration is key to successful leadership. This module will teach students how to work within diverse teams, resolve conflicts, and leverage individual strengths for collective success.

Leadership in Action

Applying theory to practise, this module will challenge student leaders to plan and execute real-world projects, giving them firsthand experience in leadership decision-making and teamwork under pressure.

Public Speaking and Communication

Students will strengthen their public speaking skills in this module, learning how to communicate persuasively and confidently, whether in front of large audiences or in smaller team settings.

Leadership Capstone Reflection and Legacy
This final module encourages student leaders to engage in self-reflection and goal-setting, solidifying their leadership learning and ensuring they continue to grow as leaders beyond their time at DBS.

Throughout the term, students will have access to over 50 hours of CPD in leadership development through a blend of workshops, peer-led discussions, and masterclasses from high-profile guest speakers. The programme provides a transformative experience that will not only enrich their time at DBS but also prepare them for the challenges of the working world.

We look forward to seeing the impact these student leaders will make on our campus and beyond!

Stay tuned for more updates as the programme unfolds.
