Message from the President -Celebrate Success, Get Involved, and Make a Difference at DBS

by Adam Crowther | Mar 14, 2025

Hello Guys,

As another term draws to a close, I want to express my sincere appreciation for the hard work and dedication you've all shown. Whether you've been excelling in your studies, contributing to vibrant class discussions, or actively participating in our thriving clubs and societies, your energy and commitment make DBS the special place it is.

I'm particularly inspired by the incredible achievements of our students outside of the classroom. Sport, in particular, has seen some outstanding successes this term. I want to give a special shout-out to the DBS Cricket Club for their fantastic win in the Indoor Championships in January! Our Men's Football team also deserves huge recognition for their strong performance, coming so close in the cup final. And we're all eagerly anticipating the upcoming semi-final competitions for our Badminton and Volleyball clubs, wishing them the very best of luck. Excitement is also building for our Pool, Basketball, and Cricket clubs as they prepare to compete in upcoming intervarsity competitions in the coming weeks. These are just a few examples of the incredible talent and passion within our student body.

But it's not just about winning trophies. Participation in clubs and societies – whether it's sports, cultural groups, academic societies, or charitable initiatives – offers so much more. It's about:

  • Developing Essential Skills: Teamwork, communication, leadership, problem-solving, and time management are all honed through active involvement. These skills are invaluable in the workplace and in life.

  • Building Connections: Clubs and societies provide opportunities to meet new people, build lasting friendships, and expand your network.

  • Making a Difference: Many of our societies are dedicated to making a positive impact, whether it's through volunteering, fundraising, or raising awareness about important issues.

  • Enriching Your Student Experience: Getting involved is a fantastic way to enhance your time at DBS, pursue your passions, and create lasting memories.

To those who are already actively involved, thank you for your commitment and your contributions. Your energy and enthusiasm are what make our community thrive.

To those who haven't yet taken the plunge, I strongly encourage you to explore the diverse range of clubs and societies at DBS. There's something for everyone, and it's a fantastic way to discover your interests, develop your skills, and make a real difference.

At DBS, we believe in fostering well-rounded individuals who are not only academically successful but also actively engaged in the world around them. Your passion, your commitment, and your desire to make a difference are what will truly help you stand out and secure success in the future.

Thank you all for being part of the DBS community. I wish you a successful end to the term.

Sincerely,

Tim Bicknell
